Happy New Year!

And thank you all for your support during this trying year. Cheese is doing great, although we really need to start doing something about his weight.

What a difference between this time last year and today. I was awakened by Kim squirting Cheese with the water bottle because he was asking for breakfast OH.TOO.EARLY! But I wasn’t mad because it meant that he was on bed and I could hear him happily purring his “Good Mornings.” Last year I dreaded mornings because that’s when I usually found him splayed out on the floor in agony from yet another blockage.

All this has put a strain on emotions and finances, but Cheese is once again happy and healthy.

Holidays

Cheese is VERY unhappy that Kim and I have put the boxes for our Christmas ornaments away. He’d been sleeping in them most mornings after breakfast.

Kim’s theory is that as a stray, Cheese never got the “good” bushes or trees to sleep under.  Since we put up our Christmas tree, we can’t get him out from underneath it.  Well…except for food.

A “non-favorite” for Cheese; we’ve begun shaving the really bad mats out of his fur.  He’s all…patchy. I’d post a picture but I’m afraid that we’d get tagged for animal abuse, or he’ll be grabbed up as some sort of disease infested feline.

Cheese Wonders…

why Macy’s and NBC found it necessary to Rick Roll potentially millions of people, although he did enjoy seeing his namesake deliver a line.

Advice?

Has anyone ever shaved or had a cat shaved?  As soon as the weather started to turn cooler here, Cheese’s coat just instantly matted.  We can’t get a comb or brush through it.

As much as we’ve tried to keep Cheese happy and healthy, does he understand what we’re giving him?

This last week has been Hell.  Between job situations, money, family health issues, and broken vehicles, it’s just been “one of those weeks.”  As is often the case at these times, I have insomnia. Last night I just couldn’t sleep. I read, I watched TV, I toss and turned.  Around 3:00 AM or so, Cheese climbed up on the bed, curled up on my chest and started sucking on my finger. It was so damn cute and relaxing that I quickly fell asleep.  Sometime after, he left, and I was out deep enough that I didn’t feel the 20 lbs. cat climb off.

He’s NEVER done this before. But it was just enough at the right time to let me forget my problems for a little bit.

Thanks, Cheese.

Recovery

Cheese is getting back to his old self, but apparently the anti-depressants are what’s keeping the urinary inflammation and irritation in check, so we’re back on it.

*sigh*

Getting Better…Again

Cheese is on the mend. It was a pretty bad time. He was in pain, he had some incontinence, and the antibiotics caused some diarrhea. We’ve finally cleared up the pain and incontinence. Still working with the antibiotic diarrhea. On the plus side, though, he’s down to one bath a day, whereas over the weekend, he was at 4 to 5.
